Team Building

While STILL waiting for the SONA rally pictures to be uploaded, I’ll tell you guys first my story that happened last Sunday. That was supposed to be a rest day for me but I was obliged to go to school and attend our team buidling activity for my org (UP KONTRA-GAPI). :D

This activity was sponsored by one of our alumni who is now handling a group that offers Corporate Team Building Seminars for Companies like Globe, and others.

To start with, we had to divide ourselves in two groups.

Each team then had a mission and vision brainstorming for our organization. We were asked of what Kontra-gapi would be after 20 years and what its mission/s are.

By the way, we will be celebrating our 20th anniversary this coming August!!!!!! Yey! YOU ARE INVITED.

To begin the first task of this activity, we had the ‘kadang-kadang’ relay at the Sunken Garden.

But before we could start, we had to perform our cheerfor the group!

The first task started!!!!!! We had to reach the finish line altogether. Go kadang-kadang. We finished first. Beh :P

The second task was quite ‘close’. It required strategy and ‘enough proximity’. We have to cross the line as if we were in a wall. If one’s foot steps out of the line, that means he will fall off. The team would have to start again. Gee!!!

I said close is enough, BUT , ‘TOO CLOSE’ — How is that??

Yikee!

The third task was the frustrating one! You should try the HELIUM HOOP. Duh, I so hate this! Everyone shold bring down the hoop at the same time with your index fingers, just the index fingers, touching the hoop. Sounds easy?? Ha-ha-ha-ha.

NO. It’s not as easy as it sounds like. :P

Unconsciously, people were bringing the hoop up for the fear of actually loosing a touch with the hoola hoop. Just do it yourself so you will know what I meant with it.  [HERE]

It took us 30 minutes or more to finally finish this one.

While waiting for our lunch to arrive, our alumni offered to enliven us with their rendition of some KONTA-GAPI pieces.

We could not be happier than having an ample time to eat our lunch with our friends and our alumni.

The last challenge came and wooh, this shocked me. I agree to the fact that I can play a number of Gamelan Instruments but.. BUT…. not with a blindfold.

:-S

How I wish I was able to play the music pieces with my favorite instrument (the sarunay) but hell, how would this be a challenge if I would be granted with such request? I was given the instrument that I am not really used to. Ok, good luck na lang sa akin.

Anyhow, it still turned out well.

To wrap things up, I enjoyed this day and I learned a lot. Teamwork plays a vital role for the success of every team. :)

I love Kontra-Gapi!

Hep! Hep! Di pa ako tapos. Panoorin mo muna ito. APSTA (Awitin ng Pilipinas sa Timog Silangang Asya) music ito. Pero in a HYPER SPEED MODE. Pag si Sir Edru* talaga ang tumutugtog ng DRUMS, mawiwindang ka na! Hahaha!

*To know more about Sir Edru Abraham, click this link. :)

Sweetham…

… will be back to blog about her ‘activist’ experiences. :D

Just got home from Commonwealth to protest against GMA.

I just remember what my French teacher told me, “It matters less whether you’re left or right. What matters most is that you’re not apathetic and you have principles to fight for.”

Paparazzi

Nothing’s hotter than Lady Gaga’s spellbinding Paparazzi song. WOOaaah! This has bait me to listen to it over and over again. Grrr…. I thought I won’t like her but this one persuaded me that I SHOULD like Lady Gaga!

Promise i’ll be kind,
But i won’t stop until that boy is mine
Baby you’ll be famous
Chase you down until you love me
Papa-paparazzi

Surprisingly, I sing it to no one! Hahaha! How I wish there is someone. :) LOL

The first, and only, partylist group for and from the Filipino youth

Kabataan shall uphold, defend, and promote the interests of the youth in the attainment of their full potential as Filipino citizens. It shall uphold youth empowerment by contributing in the process of nation-building and social transformation.

At ngayon, gusto kong i-tag sina:

Chikletz , Jepoy , Angel , Paps , Homer , Karen

Anthony Bourdain in the Philippines

This post is too late coz I only had the chance 2 weeks ago to watch the whole video. This was the time Anthony Bourdain of No Reservations visited our country. The video is cut into 5 parts. Comments and discussions are always welcome.

I could not feel any better than being proud of how Anthony’s trip had turned out. Well, he seemed happy with his stay and food trips, as if it was all worth it! He might not be able to get the warmest form of welcoming ‘the Filipino way’ from Augusto, at least the food was able to make Anthony feel how is it to be a Filipino.

I agree with Anthony’s comments regarding Augusto’s being ‘backward’ with his family’s presence. Unlike other families that I see on TV, the ones who are very enthusiastic whenever a visitor dines with them and even have a very good chit chat time and good huge laughs with the guest, Augusto’s family was not so like it. Well, Anthony’s actually expecting it to be the other way around.

The food anyhow is the main reason why the food guru visited here and the never ending question that bothered him most, “what’s a real Filipino cuisine?” If I would be confronted with such question I would not really have a quick answer with that. Let alone the food do the talking and explain itself.  And I agree with what Claude Tayag’s wife told Anthony why there is a little recognition with Filipino foods as compared to other Asian foods. She said that we always introduce different versions of our dishes so we fail to leave names to foreigners’ minds. It is diversified in a way that they might get confused or may overlap ‘this with that’.

Going back with the Bourdain experience, I think he finally found the very good partner with his beer! The sisig and lechon are winners (for me) that made it to the foodie’s soft spot. He is a man and no wonder he enjoyed the crispy, fatty, gooey feeling of eating hot pig flesh. “It is the best pig”, as he said. He could not find it anywhere in the world. It is only here in the Philippines. I swear, he should visit here and eat that again. Promptly speaking, everything he ate was all fatty. They were very delicious but very high in cholesterol as well. I just hope he did not get ‘empacho’ after munching over those tempting food.

Nonetheless I thank Augusto’s effort. If not with this ‘caught-in-the-middle’ guy, Anthony would not be able to decide to fly up to here and go as far as Cebu. Admit it, Bourdain could have seen and tasted more. What he tried are not even half of what we have in the Philippines. Well, we have cluttered islands and each (I am pretty sure of) serves their local cuisine. He could have traveled up to Davao to see more. But what more can I say, I am proud of what we have. I am proud someone like Bourdain loves our food!

Eggs and Tomatoes

Scrambled eggs + Sliced fresh tomatoes are  nothing but a piece of heaven meal for me whenever I feel so tired for cooking especially after arriving at home from school. This two make a good pair for protein, fat and vitamin source as what our nutrition professor told me.

Anyhow, just to try another (not the usual) way of cooking scrambled eggs, and to actually get rid of ADDED FAT coz of the usual cooking oil we use in frying, I tried to put it in a microwave oven. Voila! It’s still the same scrambled eggs that I eat except that the texture is a bit rough and the egg got hard a little (just a little) coz I didn’t use fat. Though it is still palatable. It’s gonna be worth it for you try to lessen your fat intake. Take note, Fats is not bad for the body. We actually need it and it’s one source of energy. But I’ll give you the never-ending cliché we hear ,  “an excess of something is too bad for everyone’s body. ”

Tomatoes nonetheless are my favorite fruit. I often take it raw with an egg or fried fish viand. Yum, yum! LOL. This make me think of the fried tilapia that’s crispy hot from a hot pan, ohlala! Oh well, looking at those murdered sliced tomatoes, I remember my teacher’s note that tomato seeds isn’t really a cause of appendicitis. That’s one myth I used to think when I still had my food laboratory two sems ago. We used to take away the seeds of tomatoes (aside from aesthetic reasons) coz SOMEONE told me that they can cause appendicitis.

Let’s nullify that idea coz it’s NOT! Appendicitis is caused by bacteria or parasites but not seeds. LOL :)

Plus, I was wondering the difference between tomato as fruit / as vegetable.

Here’s what the text I found says, “A fruit is the edible part of the plant that contains the seeds, while a vegetable is the edible stems, leaves, and roots of the plant”.

Hope you get something from here. So what’s your favorite pair of  ‘ulam’ (viand)?

Facial Dilemma

I really appreciate those who still comment despite the fact that I am not that active in blogging. :D It brings smile to me whenever I see new messages and to know that some mind to react to my senseless thoughts.

You know what’s fun being a girl?

[Hahaha. If you just know the naughty kind of smile on my face right now.]

I might be naive oftentimes. I might act like a goody-goody boy buddy to my friends or dress up with a casual shirt-pants terno in school. I might not care what/ how I really look like in front of people. My hair does not matter to me and I don’t care if it’s the messiest mane that a living creature could have. My shoes are soaked wet during rainy days and my feet clogs off dirt in between its toes after hours of walking to and fro different colleges inside the campus. That’s it! You can in fact define me as  ‘dugyot’ in contrast with the euphemistic term of actually being ‘ragged’.

You might see me as such but you can’t guess when that image of mine might change. Just one day, I woke up, took a bath and put make-up on my face. Woooh!!! That’s so new. What happened to me? I bought a new face foundation, new set of make-up brushes and LOL, new beauty products. Another thing, I realized being a girl really is a luxurious vice. Yeah, it cost me an amount to buy all those stuff and so I made sure they all won’t go to waste. I’ll use them, of course. LOL. Pre-practicum sessions are yet to come and damn thing that experts would really require you to look good. *roll eyes*

OK, I bought this one

Hahaha. Must I advertise this? Well, it’s works for me. I never really settle for cheap products coz they end up agitating all zits on my face and I blame them for having scars now. This one costs a bit higher but a bit better, :) This gives a smooth finish.

Plus, I became desperate to look for “working” anti-acne facial wash. I opted to buy Cetaphil. I use it along with Dove soap.

Oh di ba, I use super mild soaps coz I noticed that my skin gets irritated even with little exposure from dust. It’s very sensitive. And for my hair, I still use Johnson’s No-Tear Baby Shampoo.

Hehehe :) Someone advised me to use it to avoid small “pimps” to appear on the sides of my face. She asked why am I having pimps on my jawlines and none actually on the main face area. It might be caused by too strong formulation of the shampoo I use. And somehow, this works also for me.

I shared some of my vanities by no reason. This is just so random. :P
