Eggs and Tomatoes

Scrambled eggs + Sliced fresh tomatoes are  nothing but a piece of heaven meal for me whenever I feel so tired for cooking especially after arriving at home from school. This two make a good pair for protein, fat and vitamin source as what our nutrition professor told me.

Anyhow, just to try another (not the usual) way of cooking scrambled eggs, and to actually get rid of ADDED FAT coz of the usual cooking oil we use in frying, I tried to put it in a microwave oven. Voila! It’s still the same scrambled eggs that I eat except that the texture is a bit rough and the egg got hard a little (just a little) coz I didn’t use fat. Though it is still palatable. It’s gonna be worth it for you try to lessen your fat intake. Take note, Fats is not bad for the body. We actually need it and it’s one source of energy. But I’ll give you the never-ending cliché we hear ,  “an excess of something is too bad for everyone’s body. ”

Tomatoes nonetheless are my favorite fruit. I often take it raw with an egg or fried fish viand. Yum, yum! LOL. This make me think of the fried tilapia that’s crispy hot from a hot pan, ohlala! Oh well, looking at those murdered sliced tomatoes, I remember my teacher’s note that tomato seeds isn’t really a cause of appendicitis. That’s one myth I used to think when I still had my food laboratory two sems ago. We used to take away the seeds of tomatoes (aside from aesthetic reasons) coz SOMEONE told me that they can cause appendicitis.

Let’s nullify that idea coz it’s NOT! Appendicitis is caused by bacteria or parasites but not seeds. LOL :)

Plus, I was wondering the difference between tomato as fruit / as vegetable.

Here’s what the text I found says, “A fruit is the edible part of the plant that contains the seeds, while a vegetable is the edible stems, leaves, and roots of the plant”.

Hope you get something from here. So what’s your favorite pair of  ‘ulam’ (viand)?
